Varied range of tasks

My working days as a proposal manager vary enormously. Sometimes I prepare new proposals, I draw the design for a boiler, or I prepare a pricing for a complete waste-to-energy installation based on the input of my colleagues. It is an interesting mix of independent work and teamwork and it gives me great satisfaction to always work towards a finished proposal, design or pricing.

What is extra interesting about this job is that I often have contact with other countries. After all, we make quotations for waste-to-energy installations all over the world. The fact that English is the working language for these contacts made it easy for me to find my way around Keppel Seghers, as Dutch is not my native language. The international nature of our company also makes it more attractive for people from different backgrounds to apply here.

Flexibility is our asset

Our strength is mainly our flexibility in our projects and products. We always try to understand our customers, suppliers and partners and we are constantly open to new suggestions and ideas. Moreover, we like to share our own expertise and guide our customers where necessary. Thanks to this productive collaboration, we can often deviate from our standard designs and ensure that our solutions are always adapted to the needs of the customer.

I also see that flexibility in the working atmosphere at our office. The atmosphere within the company is always very pleasant and everyone always tries to support each other. We all have one common goal and you can feel that within the company. No matter what happens, together we strive for the best solution for our customers.

Family and international

When I applied here 17 years ago, Keppel Seghers was still a small family business and that atmosphere still hangs here. You know everyone here. Yet we are also part of the Keppel Group and are thus part of a large, international company. This way we have the advantages of both types of companies: the nice family atmosphere and the international impact to convince many new customers of your expertise.

International contacts

In my position as project manager I have to be at home in many markets. I have daily contact with my colleagues from engineering, procurement, site management, planning, ..., in short, all the puzzle pieces that are needed to make a project a success. This way I quickly get a general overview of all the different components in the construction process of our waste-to-energy installations.

But the most interesting part of my job remains the contact with our customers who are spread all over the world. Whether it be via email, Skype or even face-to-face, these international contacts really make my job interesting. A different culture naturally entails a different way of doing business, but such a culture clash helps you put your own vision into perspective and contributes to your personal development.

Smooth cooperation with customers and colleagues

At Keppel Seghers I therefore have the feeling that the great strength of the company lies in the people themselves. I am amazed every day with how many intelligent colleagues I can work with here to come up with the best solutions for our customers. Everyone is an expert in their field, but also remains approachable for a nice chat or to go for a walk together during the afternoon. I really appreciate that feeling of comfort and it makes everyone feel at home here.

We also try to achieve that feeling towards the customers by always being very flexible. Keppel Seghers often goes further than the standard solutions offered by competitors. At the request of the customer, we adjust our proposals and we can also successfully realize them. We dare to deviate from the standard and that makes the cooperation with our customers so productive.

This smooth cooperation has ultimately ensured that we have already been able to carry out projects with waste-to-energy installations in China, Singapore and Australia. You can really see a part of the world when you work at Keppel Seghers and you should certainly not pass up that opportunity!
