Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant

On 29 June 2017, Keppel Infrastructure and PUB, Singapore's national water agency, unveiled the innovative design of the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant, Singapore's fourth desalination plant, at its groundbreaking ceremony conducted at Marina Barrage. 

The first of its kind in Singapore, the KMEDP will be a large-scale dual-mode desalination plant in Singapore that can treat both seawater and freshwater by using reverse osmosis and other advanced membrane technology, depending on prevailing weather conditions.

Slated for completion by 2020, it features a sleek modern design that breaks away from that of conventional water treatment plants. It will also inroporate environmentally friendly features such as rainwater harvesting, and 20,000 square metres of open green space on the rooftop for community recreation.

When completed, the plant will be able to produce up to 137,000m3 of fresh drinking water daily. Keppel Infrastructure will supply product water to PUB over a 25-year concession period from 2020 to 2045.

 

Doha North Sewage Treatment Works

Keppel Seghers is privileged to partner the Public Works Authority of Qatar to develop the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works. This landmark project is the largest greenfield wastewater treatment, water reuse and sludge treatment plant in Qatar.

With a peak design capacity to treat wastewater of up to 439,000m3 per day, the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works serves a projected population of over 900,000 people.

As a Design-Build-Operate project, Keppel Seghers designed and built the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works and has commenced the 10-year operations and maintenance of the plant since December 2015.

This modern facility features advanced biological treatment processes as well as membrane and ultra-violet technologies to produce high quality reclaimed water for reuse in agriculture. The facility will also be equipped with thermal drying processes to treat wastewater sludge. The dried and pelletised sludge will be used as soil conditioners or refuse-derived fuel.

Keppel Seghers Ulu Pandan NEWater Plant

Keppel Seghers Ulu Pandan NEWater Plant is one of Singapore’s largest NEWater plants and has the capacity to produce 148,000m3 of NEWater per day. It is also one of the largest wastewater recycling plants in the world.

NEWater is treated used water that has undergone stringent purification and treatment using advanced dual-membrane (microfiltration and reverse osmosis) and ultraviolet technologies.

The ultra-clean NEWater can be used in wafer fabrication, non-potable applications in manufacturing and air conditioning cooling towers in commercial buildings.

Awarded by PUB in early 2005 to design, build, own and operate the plant for 20 years under the Public Private Partnership initiative, the plant meets the demand from industrial and commercial sectors in the western and central regions of Singapore.
